REVIEW: Hada Labo's Hydrating Care

I was introduced to Hada Labo back in July last year and since then, I have been quite intrigued by their products. My cousin's constant raves of the Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Lotion only served to increase the intensity of my curiosity!

However, their products are really pricey and somehow, I have this strange idea that too much hydration is going to lead to a massive explosion of blackheads (Please take note that this is NOT proven. It's just this strange idea that I have. Oily skin can be due to dehydration of the skin.).

When Watsons stocked up on the travel sets again, I just HAD to purchase it (Okay, expenditure justified. Heh.). This set is going at $15.90 and is only available at certain Watsons outlets (Check out the outlets at Changi City Point, Far East Plaza and Ngee Ann City!)

The travel set houses 4 of the products from Hada Labo's Hydrating Care range. They are

Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Make-up Remover (30ml)
Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Wash (20g)
Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Lotion (20ml)
Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Milk (20ml).

All the products are free from the clutches of fragrances, mineral oils and colorants! Yay! :D

The Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Make-up Remover (30ml) is a water-based makeup remover that effectively removes your makeup and hydrates your skin at the same time. It is to be used on dry skin (Make sure your hands are dry too!), with gentle circular motions.

The makeup remover takes the form of a transparent liquid, which is slightly thicker than water. It smells a little like alcohol to me.

Starting from the left, they are

Holika Holika's Petit BB (Moisture)
K-Palette's 24H Real Lasting Eyeliner Waterproof in Super Black
NYX's Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk
Etude House's Lash Designing Vitcara Mascara
Canmake's Powder Cheeks in PW18
Topshop's Blush in Head Over Heels
Etude House's lipstick
Etude House's lipstick
L'Oreal Paris' Glam Shine 6H in V5 Iredsistible.

On dry skin, with dry hands!

Gentle circular motions!

And rinse well with water! As seen in the photo, there are faint marks left from K-Palette's 24H Real Lasting Eyeliner Waterproof in Super Black and L'Oreal Paris' Glam Shine 6H in V5 Iredsistible (Please ignore the strap marks on my arm!). Other than that, it's all clear!

I was rather disappointed by the Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Make-up Remover because the Hydrating Cleansing Oil worked so much better! The latter removed every single trace of makeup whereas for this, there would still be some eyeliner and mascara left. :\

I wouldn't say that the remover hydrated my skin but it certainly did not leave any greasy or tight feeling after use, as promised by Hada Labo. (:

The Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Wash (20g) gently cleanses and hydrates the skin. It removes impurities effectively, whilst preserving the skin's natural moisture. It is to be lathered with water, before cleaning your face with gentle circular motions.

The cleanser comes out as a white cream-like substance and lathers easily with water. Its scent is a tad funky and it's pretty strong.

It isn't as hydrating as I thought it would but but it cleans the face without leaving my skin feeling too clean and too tight. However, I don't particularly like the scent. :\

The Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Lotion (20ml) seems to be the Japanese equivalent of a toner. It hydrates and locks in moisture, keeping the skin soft and supple. It is to be patted on the skin until it is thoroughly absorbed.

The lotion is a transparent liquid, which density is between the water's and the makeup remover's densities. It smells less intense than the cleanser and is more pleasant.

As promised, the lotion does a splendid job in hydrating the skin! It takes a little longer to get absorbed into the skin (As compared with other toners.), but it's totally worth it! Also, the patting motions are pretty fun! :D

My cousin uses only the lotion to hydrate his skin and that's all!

The Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Milk (20ml) provides deep hydration with its high Super Hyaluronic Acid concentration. It keeps the skin baby smooth, radiant and well hydrated! Just like the lotion, it is to be applied with gentle patting motions.

The milk comes out in an opaque white liquid. It's a little thicker than the lotion and smells like the lotion but a little more pleasant (Haha. It's really difficult to describe the scent.).

The milk complements the lotion perfectly to ensure that I wake up to skin that's moisturized wonderfully! My skin feels soft and smooth and I noticed that it's a lot more radiant. Also, my makeup goes on smoother too! (: Just today (Well, it's actually yesterday, seeing that it's the 6th now. EEPS! Time is passing way too fast!), the sister commented on how smooth my skin looked! :DDD

In summary, I really love the lotion and the milk and these will be the two products which I will highly recommend to anyone! I don't particularly like the scents but I do like the fact that these products are free of fragrances! So oh wells. But anyway, the scents don't linger! :D

As for the makeup remover and the cleanser, I think there are more effective ones out there. For the makeup remover, Hada Labo's Hydrating Cleansing Oil is definitely a stronger contender. And for an even gentler cleanser, Cetaphil would be a good brand to look into. (:

Alrighty. It's bedtime now. Thanks for reading! :D

  2. Thank you for the review~ For my oily/dry skin, I wasn't sure if the hada labo milk would be too oily for it but this review has convinced me to buy it. ^^ been also looking into naruko products as well
